Hatto Serves Lions Into Come Back Win
Manhattan, NY - The RVCC Lions found themselves in a desperate position on Tuesday night as they traveled into NYC to take on the BMCC Panthers. After winning the first set, the Lions would drop the second set, and again win the third set to go into the fourth set up 2-1. In the fourth set the Lions found themselves down 23-12 and on the verge of their first five set match of the season. However, the Lions and freshman DS Rachel Hatto were determined to win it in four. Hatto served 10 service points in a row, with 3 aces along the way, to pull the Lions back within two points at 24-22. The Lions would go on to win the fourth set 28-26 in dramatic fashion. Hatto had a team high 7 service aces on the night, but none more timely than those 3 in the fourth frame. Sophomores Brittany Jensen and Olivia Sims led the way with 8 kills each while Alanna Da Cunha added 6, Kelly Delaney had 5, and Jaiden English and Carolina Osses each added 2. Sophomore Libero Bri Rojas continued to pace the defense with a season high 25 digs on the night. Delaney had a great defensive night with 17 digs while Hatto totaled 11 and Izabela Bar added 10. Bar also had 27 assists on the night.
The Lions now sit at 9-4 on the season and host County College of Morris on Saturday at 11 AM.
