Lions Sweep Morris
North Branch, NJ - The RVCC women's volleyball team was back in action on Wednesday night as they hosted the visiting Titans from the County College of Morris. The Lions came out of the gate strong and were able to close out the Titans in straight sets. In the first two sets the Lions never trailed, however in the beginning of the third set they found themselves in a 7-2 hole. Some strong spot serving by outside hitter, Kaili Fitzpatrick, pushed the Lions back in the lead 8-7 and they never looked back from there. Fitzpatrick led the way with a team high 16 kills to go along with 10 digs. The powerful hitter from Hillsborough has notched 3 double doubles on the season, all within the last four games. Fellow freshmen Jaiden English and Olivia Sims added to the offensive attack with 5 and 6 kills respectively. The Lions were once again paced by their setter, Izabela Bar. Bar racked up 25 total assists, marking the ninth time out of ten contests she has registered over 20 assists in a game. Defensively, Libero Bri Rojas had 5 digs as did Brittany Jensen. English added in 7 of her own. However, it wasn't just the back row that was making great defensive plays. Middle Blockers Olivia Sims and Reema Azouzi were a force at the net with 4 and 2 blocks each respectively. The Lions are now 10-4 on the season. The team travels to Harrisburg Area Community College this Saturday for a 12 PM tri-match with Lackawanna College. The last time Raritan played Harrisburg was during the 2019 NJCAA Division III National Championships in Rochester Minnesota. The Lions prevailed 3-1.
