Lions Overcome Titans
The RVCC Men’s Basketball team defeated conference and region opponent County College of Morris by a final score of 99-86. The Titans of Morris opened the game on a 10-2 run, but the Lions responded with their own 14-2 run to take a 16-12 lead. RVCC continued its strong play throughout the first half and were able to open up a 14 point 52-38 halftime lead. The second half saw both teams exchange points for the first couple minutes. Around the 15 minute mark Sophomore Rick’Keem Mixson made history eclipsing the 1,000 point mark for his career. The Lions gained momentum and were able to push their lead to over 20 points. The Titans did not go down without a fight and slowly chipped away getting the lead down to 11 points. RVCC was able to execute and knock down free throws to secure the 13 point victory. Mixson led the balanced attack with 30 points and 10 rebounds, Robert Terry added 13 points, 6 assists and 4 rebounds and Malachi Gayton had a double double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
