RVCC Participates in PINK Game and Supports Relay for Life
Somerville, NJ-- The RVCC Baseball and Softball programs participated wore pink during their games on Tuesday April 3, 2012 to support breast cancer awareness. Fans wore pink to the game to show their support, while the baseball team sported pink wristbands and the softball team proudly wore pink socks. The Athletic Department teammed up with the Student Activities Program Board to sell PINK Baseball/Softball shirts, as well as concessions (including pink treats) at the game. All proceeds from Pink Concession sales were raised on behalf of the Program Board's Realy for Life Team. All proceeds from PINK Athletic shirts are being donated to the Relay for Life on behalf of the Athletic Department teams participating.
Student-athletes from other teams also got involved in PINK day. Giselle Noel (women's basketball) and Savanna Duh (women's soccer) have been helping sell PINK Athletic Shirts since the campaign first started back in February during basketball season. "I like getting involved because it's a great experience and it helps me to support my school and the Realy for Life," Noel said.
This was the first joint venture between Student Activities and the Athletic Department. "We are hoping to host a PINK game for each sport next season," Director of Athletics Amanda DeMartino said. "We pride ourselves on getting our student-athletes involved with the Relay For Life and we're excited to continue this venture next year."
PINK Baseball, Softball and Basketball shirts are still available for purchase in the Athletic Department located on the second floor of the Physical Education Building. The Relay for Life takes place on RVCC's campus Saturday May 12, 2012.
